Synopsis

ALL THE SONGBIRD NOVELS CAN BE READ AS STAND ALONE BOOKS.

Love can last a lifetime…

Best buds in high school, Charlotte (Charlie) Watson and Nixon Holloway were inseparable…until the summer after graduation, when things in their relationship shifted and it all fell apart.

Four years later, their paths cross at a snowbound New York airport, and it doesn’t take long for them to realize that time and distance has done nothing to extinguish the flame between them. But life has moved on. Nixon has a girlfriend, and Charlie must face up to the lasting consequences of what she let happen that dreadful summer.

In a secret attempt to make amends, Charlie suggests a spontaneous road trip from New York to LA. As usual, Nixon can’t resist her persuasive charm, so they hit the road together. But as the duo make their way across the country, they are both forced to face some honest truths about themselves, their present lives, and all of the unfulfilled dreams they’ve let slip by.

Each of them can see the course their lives are taking…but is there someplace else they’d rather be? And will they have the courage to fight for the person they would rather be with?

If you like a book that will make you laugh, shed a tear, and ultimately swoon…then pick up a copy of Rather Be and find out how Nixon and Charlie overcome the odds.

Review

I literally just finished this story minutes ago, but I could not wait to write my review, so please bare with me just incase it’s a little gibberish

SO… Where do I even begin? I am literally speechless after finishing this magnificent book. I sadly must admit that when it came to finishing this book I was dragging my feet because I did not want the series to end. I have been following the Songbird series for years now, ever since the release of Fever, and it was a bittersweet moment to see it come to an end. Throughout the years whenever I needed a good cry or laugh this was my go to series because Melissa Pearl has managed to create something that makes you cry, laugh and smile all at the same time.

Rather Be was without a doubt the PERFECT send off novel for the Songbird series. Although these books are considered to be standalones, they’re all connected together in some way and are essentially set in the same world, a world that is intertwined from book to book. I have to say that it was exciting to see a ton of appearances from the previous SONGBIRD couples. This story blew way beyond my wildest expectations, which I will happily admit happens every single time I finish one of her stories. Melissa Pearl really knows how to surprise her readers every time and keep them on the edge of their seats in anticipation.

Charlie and Nixon’s story is a second chance romance about two people who were meant to be, but obstacles continued to stand in their way. Right from the start my attention was captured and I knew that this story was going to be epic. I absolutely adored how Melissa introduced us to these two amazing characters in the crowed airport where they find themselves grounded due to a freak snow storm…in the spring! While Nixon is anxious to get home, Charlie wants to extend their reunion by suggesting a road trip back to LA. I mean come on it was the perfect excuse to help them rediscover what they had lost only a few short years ago. Their journey is truly an amazing tale and don’t even get me started on the drama and that ENDING. Words can’t even begin to describe just how much I LOVED IT!

I guess since I don’t really want to give away too much of the story I am just going to leave my thoughts here and make sure to lock the spoilers away for some safe keeping. Once again I want to thank Melissa Pearl for another amazing read and thank you so much for the Advanced Readers Copy (although I did make sure to purchase my own copy too)!

Review

I generously received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review!

Hear No Evil is the final installment in the Brotherhood Trilogy and the perfect conclusion to this extraordinary series! Jordan Ford (aka Melissa Pearl) has done it again! Just like last time I didn’t think that this book could be better then book #1 – See No Evil, but this one has truly exceeded even my wildest of expectations! There is absolutely nothing that this author can’t do if she sets her mind to it and man does she deliver a killer book every single time. Hear No Evil was filled with double the amount of suspense and mystery as the first two books and had me on the edge of my seat until the very end. This book had so many twists and turns that I found myself going back to re-read particular scenes to make sure that I didn’t miss anything.

Finally we got to see Riley and Caitlin emotionally complex love story and I can’t believe how intense their story was. I though that the author did a great job at developing these characters in the previous books. Although we only met Caitlin briefly in book #2 – Speak No Evil, it felt like I knew her since the very beginning. I could feel her emotions pouring out of the pages, grabbing my heart and squeezing it tight until I could hardly breathe through the pain. Although I didn’t think I would, I bawled throughout so many parts of this book that I could hardly see through my tears at the end.

caitlin

Overall, this book made my cry big fat crocodile tears and smile more then I thought I ever could. Even though I am sad to see this “family” go, I know that Jordan Ford ended it on the perfect note and tied up every loose end we saw in the previous books in the trilogy!

Synopsis

Kade Kingsley is sick of hiding out in the middle of nowhere.

He should be having a good time, partying and living it up, not playing bodyguard to his best friend’s runaway witness girlfriend.

When he decides to leave the mountainside he’s called home for the last two months, he promises to be careful. He knows the stakes are high, and he knows that the makeshift family he’s leaving behind is counting on him to come back.

What he doesn’t count on is getting mugged and left for dead.

And he definitely doesn’t count on being rescued by a girl with secrets of her own…secrets that rival his.

As Julienne Bishop, a down-on-her-luck girl hiding from an abusive ex-boyfriend, nurses Kade back to health, an uneasy bond forms between them. They need each other, even if they don’t realize it, and even if they have a hard time accepting it.

Because danger is coming at them from both sides, and they must figure out if they can trust each other.

Before it’s too late.

Review

I generously received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review!

Speak No Evil is the second book in the Brotherhood Trilogy written by the extraordinary Jordan Ford (Melissa Pearl)! I thought that nothing could ever compare to the first book, but the author did it again. Even though I loved the first book in this trilogy, Kade’s story has managed to wedged its way into my heart, leaving me with the ultimate book hangover!

rorysniggingbook

The book picks up about two months from where the first one ends. This story follows Kade’s journey after leaving his “family” in the cabin that is owned by Riley’s uncle who has mysteriously disappeared without a trace prior to their arrival. Although Kade loves his “brothers” and is willing to do anything for them, he is sick and tired of hiding out in these isolated mountains that they fled to at the end of the first book after Ana was shot. Leaving his “family” behind, Kade finds himself in Reno with a new identity. Gone is the eighteen year old prep school “runaway” Kade Kingsley and in his place emerges a twenty-one old Karl Hannon. Kade had no intention of staying in Reno, but when he is offered a job and the opportunity to play hockey once again he jumps at the chance, figuring he could make a few extra bucks before finding somewhere else go.

Breakaway

To Be Published: TBD

I’m the hero of my story…

Once upon a time, in a faraway place…

I learned that monsters exist
That the dark is meant for fear
That sometimes, you can’t even count on yourself

I just have to get past senior year finals, and I can break away-

I can leave the past,
the monsters,
the ghosts,
far, far behind.

I just can’t break beforehand.
