As a girl, I saw my father destroy the family he claimed to love. I watched my mother waste her life dreaming of a man who left her without a second glance.
As a woman, I don’t dream, I work. I don’t fall in love, I focus. I would never let anything as frivolous as love distract me.
Until I meet Simon. A gorgeous, brilliant young architect with dark eyes, a sweet smile, and a dirty, dirty mouth. He sets me on fire, and suddenly all I can do is dream…of his hands, his lips, his body. Of a heart good enough and a love strong enough to make me believe in happily ever after.
But Simon has secrets that are even deeper than mine. Will our pasts destroy everything we’ve worked for? Or will we find the courage to rise to the challenge and fight for the love we share?
I generously received this ARC from Give Me Books in exchange for an honest review…
Wow! Can I just start off by saying how beautiful this cover is? It may seem super simple to some, yet in reality it speaks so many volumes to what this extraordinary book is all about. The cover model definitely did this book justice! And another thing I can hardly believe is the fact that this is the author’s debut novel because it couldn’t possibly be written by someone so new to the game, but it was and I am super ecstatic about having a front seat view at what will certainly be a very promising writing career.
There is so much (and I mean so much) to be said about this extraordinary story and yet so little because I don’t want to give away anything too important to the plot of the storyline. Instead of telling you a brief description about the book I am just going to tell you how it made me feel. Rise by Dylan Allen is a book that you’ll want to experience first hand, a book that will capture you whole body and soul and essentially leave you all emotional and craving for more. Since I clearly knew nothing about this author (debut author and all that jazz) I had no specific expectations going into this book, but if I had I am sure that this book would have blown my expectations out of the water. There wasn’t a single (and I really mean it) dull moment throughout the entire story. Addie and Simon’s (the two main characters in case you aren’t aware…lol) story tugged on every heartstring I had and refused to give any of them back.
2017 is certainly the year of phenomenal reads and it’s only the second month of the year. I strongly recommend this book and can’t wait to see what the author comes up with next. A girl can never have too many books (or favorite authors). Thank you Dylan Allen for allowing me the opportunity to read this sensational story! 🙂
